Frequently Asked Questions
What must I do to be saved?
- Admit that God has not been first in our life and ask for Him to forgive your sins.
- "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from every wrong." 1 John 1:9
- Belive that Jesus died to pay for your sins and that He rose again and is alive today.
- "If you confess that Jesus is your Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved."
Romans 10:9 - Accept God's free gift of salvation. Don't try to earn it.
- "For by grace are you saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
- Invite Jesus Christ to come into your life and be the director("Lord") of your life.
- "To all who receive Him, He gives the right to become the children of God. All we need to do is to trust Him to save us. All those who believe this are reborn! Not a physical rebirth... but from the will of God!" John 1:12-13
- "Jesus says, 'Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.'" Revelations 3:30
What is the meaning of baptism?
- It illustrates Christ's burial and resurrection.
- "Christ died for our sins...He was buried...and He rose again." 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
- "For when you are baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ." Colossians 2:12
- It illustrates my life as a Christian.
- "When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17
- "By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and share His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead...so also we may live a new life." Romans 6:4
- Baptism does not make you a Christian-it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not "save" you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring - it's the outward symbol of the commitment you have made in your heart.
Why should I be baptized?
- To follow the example set by Christ
- "At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river." Mark 1:9
- Because Christ commands it.
- "Jesus said, 'Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.'" Matt. 28:19-20 - It demonstrates that I am really a believer.
- "...many of the people who heard Him believed and were baptized." Acts 18:8
- "We know that we have come to know Him, If we obey His commands." 1 John 2:3
